The single-family house, with its unconventional architectural expression, is located in the town of Bankya. Its distinctive character stems from the conceptual fusion of two ideas - castle and iceberg. Inspired by this duality, the volumes alternate between fluid curves and sharp, assertive lines, creating a dynamic architectural composition. These expressive forms are intentionally softened through the use of timber cladding, which introduces warmth and material balance to the overall design.
At the heart of the house, a fireplace emerges as a sculptural volume that extends into the roof, becoming a central spatial element. On the second floor, an atrium space with a gallery is defined, its presence expressed externally through a curtain wall façade. The interior is flooded with natural light thanks to extensive glazing throughout the building. On the ground floor, large sliding glass panels dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior, creating a seamless spatial continuity.
Particular attention is dedicated to the landscape design and the courtyard paving, ensuring a cohesive outdoor experience. The sculpted, picturesque contours echo and reinforce the architectural vision of the house. A boutique kitchen garden is also integrated into the design, offering not only visual richness but also a source of fresh seasonal produce.
The house includes a dedicated study, which in the context of today’s evolving lifestyles is ideally suited for a fully functional home office.
A significant contribution to the high quality of the final realization was made by the clients, who actively collaborated throughout the entire design and construction process and never compromised on the choice of materials. In this way, the house evolved from a bold, dynamic concept into a fully realized project, refined down to the smallest detail. And now, we stay in the garden, quietly taking in the landscape…
